When governments fail to act, what is expected of the citizens? When citizens fail to act what is expected of governments?
In Nigeria this double barrel question is answered likely as follows:
Anytime governments fail to act the people are expected to look at the tribe the leaders come from and with the mere look, the opinion leaders of that tribe the leader will speak out in defense of their kinsmen because of tribal sentiment, whether the leader is competent or not, the euphemism is 'it is our turn'. The other tribes who looked, will critics on the basis of 'patriotism' and pan Nigeria because it is not 'their turn'.
Anytime the people fail to act, the government says the people are not informed and that they are satisfied, then the government award contracts for media jingles, but when the be people act against the cruel regime, the government accuse them of cheap popularity and being sponsored by political opponents.
Considering the situation in Nigeria as a country of which Many Nigeria do not actually know whether they have a government or not. It is dangerous, because the key group of Nigeria population, the youths are having crisis of patriotism or loyalty. They do not know where their loyalty lies to the country or the political desperadoes?
People should access and honestly rate themselves before they go seek for political office. The charade going on Nigeria for leaders require a special appraisal of sense and sensibility.
